Sliding gates · Portland & Seattle
Automatic sliding and cantilever gates for driveways that are short, sloped or tight on space, and for wide commercial openings. The gate runs along the fence line instead of swinging into the drive, so it works where a swing gate cannot.

Quick answer
A sliding gate is the better choice when the driveway is short, slopes up behind the gate, or the gate has to open wide. It needs room along the fence line to roll back. A swing gate needs clear, level space behind it to open. Safe Haven Gates checks the space, slope and traffic on a free site visit and recommends the one that fits.

Track or cantilever?
A track gate rolls on a rail set in the drive. A cantilever gate hangs on rollers beside the opening, so nothing sits in the driveway. It suits gravel, snow and slopes.

Where sliding gates fit
Sliding gates suit homes with short or sloped driveways, properties where cars park close to the gate, and commercial lots that need a wide opening. They also stand up better to wind than a large swing gate, which matters on exposed sites.
Reliable work, a fair price and good communication.

Reasonable quote on a new gate. Logan was great to work with.

Safety on every slide gate
Beams across the opening stop and reverse the gate if a car or person is in the way.
Every install
Pressure edges on the gate stop it if it touches anything while closing.
Recommended for homes
Covers over rollers and gaps keep fingers and paws out.

How much room does a sliding gate need?
It needs clear space along the fence line roughly as long as the opening, plus a little extra for a cantilever gate. We measure it on the site visit.
Can a sliding gate go on a sloped driveway?
Yes. Sliding gates work on driveways that slope up behind the gate, where a swing gate would hit the ground. Cantilever gates also handle uneven ground well.
What is a cantilever gate?
A sliding gate that hangs on rollers mounted beside the opening instead of rolling on a track in the driveway. Nothing sits in the drive, so it suits gravel, snow and debris.
How long does a sliding gate take to open?
Most residential slide operators move about one foot per second, so a 16-foot gate opens in roughly 15 seconds. Faster commercial operators are available.
Are sliding gates safe?
Yes, when they are installed with photo eyes, safety edges and roller guards. We include photo eyes on every automatic gate.
Can you automate my existing sliding gate?
Usually. If the gate rolls freely and the track or rollers are sound, we can add an operator. Worn tracks or rollers are replaced first.
Do you build the gate or just install it?
Both. We build steel, aluminum and wood-infill slide gates in our shop and install them with the operator.
