Serving Portland since
No need to replace a good gate
Swing, slide, wood or steel
Safety sensors on every install
Quick answer
Most gates can. Safe Haven Gates checks that the gate is straight, swings or rolls freely, and that the posts and hinges can carry an operator. Then we add the operator, power, photo eyes and the way you want to open it, such as remotes, a keypad or a phone app. If the gate needs work first, we tell you and fix it as part of the job.
What we add
Swing or slide operators, power or solar, photo eyes and safety edges, gate locks, keypads, remotes, intercoms and phone-app control.
Service area
Portland metro, Willamette Valley and SW Washington from Portland. Seattle, Bellevue, Tacoma, Everett and the Puget Sound from Seattle.

When a new gate makes more sense
Rotten wood, sagging frames, very heavy gates on weak posts, or a gate that drags on the ground are usually cheaper to replace than to fix and automate.

How a conversion works
We start with the gate itself. Hinges, rollers, posts and the gate frame have to be sound before a motor moves them every day. Then we run power or set up solar, mount the operator, add the safety devices and set up the way you want to open the gate.
Reliable work, a fair price and good communication.

Straight answers
Can't find yours? Call the office closest to you.
Can any gate be made automatic?
Most swing and slide gates can, if the gate is straight, moves freely and the posts and hinges are strong enough. We check this on the site visit.
Do I need power at the gate?
Not always. If power is far away, a solar operator with a battery runs the gate without trenching. Where power is close, we run a line to the operator.
Will my gate need repairs first?
Sometimes. Worn hinges, bent rollers, loose posts or a dragging gate are fixed first so the operator lasts.
How do I open the gate once it is automatic?
With remotes, a keypad, an intercom, a phone app or a vehicle sensor for leaving. Most people use two or three of these.
Is an automated gate safe?
Yes, with photo eyes, correct force settings and auto-reverse. We test every safety device before we leave.
Can I still open it by hand?
Yes. Every operator has a manual release for power cuts or service.
How long does a conversion take?
Most are done in a day once parts are on hand. Trenching, new posts or gate repairs can add time.
